What are the Ozarks? The Ozarks are the oldest mountains in North America. The name generally refers to a large mountain range, with other references including Ozark Plateau and Ozarks Mountain Country. The largest portion of the Ozark Mountains are in Missouri, but its 45,000 square mile range extends into Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, and Oklahoma.
